Township Seeks Funding For Pressing Infrastructure Needs

April 2009

The Board of Supervisors and township staff are well aware of the pressing needs residents continue to ask about, including:

  • Road repairs on Three Mile Run Road from School House Road to Park Avenue and from Route 313 to School House Road,
  • Repair or replacement of Rockhill Bridge over Three Mile Run Road, and
  • Additional sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

Unfortunately, the township and other municipalities have felt the impacts of the national economic downturn as much as businesses and individuals have, making it difficult to complete these important projects.

Revenues and state funding are both down, and funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is limited and competitive. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, which is administering $220 million in stimulus funding, received 174 applications for $1.2 billion dollars in just the first round of applications.

What We Are Doing

The township is carefully prioritizing projects while aggressively continuing to pursue state and federal funding opportunities.

Some repairs will be made to Three Mile Run Road this year, but the extent of the repairs will depend on the amount of funding the township is able to secure.

The township is pursuing long-term funding options for the design and construction of Rockhill Bridge, as well as sewer and stormwater infrastructure. (Read about the Cedar View Water Expansion.)

We continue to welcome and appreciate resident input as we carefully manage our priorities and budget in a tough economic time. If you have questions, concerns, or input, please contact us.
